Even a easy task of buying eggs transforms into a mind boggling one - should it be: cage-free, organic-feed, with omega-3 and some other nutrients, and which size: small, medium, large or jumbo eggs? Or take orange juice. Who would have thought getting the O.J. would be so complicated? You have to choose between freshly squeezed or concentrate, with no pulp, some pulp, most pulp and with or without calcium or even the choice of omega-3. Last week the Husby and I stood at the cold section for quite a while - looking at Swiss cheese. There were four types: thick cut Swiss, Swiss, baby Swiss (they were regular-sized and looked the same!) and reduced-fat Swiss. See how fun this is?
Moreover, I realised that there will always be a low-fat version available, from biscuits to cheese. Or the packaging will be screaming "Only 100 calories!". The selection of TV dinners is impressive too; there are those from the South Beach Diet to Lean Cruise. It is really dangerous to step into the supermarket on a empty stomach, for you will surely end up spending more!
Silly old me has forgotten to bring the card twice when we grocery shopping! The first incident we only discovered that I left my wallet home when we entered the supermarket. D'oh! We then walked all the way home, some 6 blocks away to get the card, and back again. The second time it happened, we were already checking out at the cashiers. Thank goodness the cashier lady was really generous to give us the discount despite not having the card. I better not forget to bring the card again! =P
