Animal cookies

Overheard in the kitchen today:

"Oink!" squealed Mr Pig, "Eat the squirrels, no one likes them!"

"NO! Eat the pigs, everyone loves porky green tea cookies! Besides, some of us squirrels may have rabies, no one will want to eat us!" retorted the wise squirrel. *yay for the squirrels, ain't they the cutest?*

Then there was silence.

It was Mr Dog who had something to say next. "Will someone please bring me for a walk?"

Just another typical lazy Sunday afternoon around here. :) Would you like to adopt any one of the three animals?

Green tea cookie recipe can be found here, and cookie cutters are from Daiso store.

Rice to Riches

Rice to Riches: what a cute name for a store! Move over frozen yogurt, this is the next new thing! (likely to have been around a while, but I am slow to discover it!) What do you think they sell??

This is definitely on my "to visit and taste" list when we pop over to NYC, especially the "Sex, Drugs and Rocky Road" dish! :)

The future

"A Singapore Taxi Driver's Diary: Probably the only taxi driver in this world with a PhD from Stanford and a proven track record of scientific accomplishments, I have been forced out of my research job at the height of my scientific career, and unable to find another one, for reasons I can only describe as something "uniquely Singapore". As a result, I am driving taxi to make a living and writing these real life stories just to make the dull job a little more interesting. I hope that these stories are interesting to you too." Read the preface here.

Chanced upon this via Tomorrow.sg and probably old news to some of you. Somehow, it is making me sweat, given that he is after all in scientific research. Sigh, it is making me think harder about what the future may hold. Maybe going home to the red dot is not an option after all.

Resistance is futile

Seriously, I need more self control. I did try to resist eating all of them at once. Ooo *munch* so cute! *munch* its tiny! *munch*

To think we had just bought this yesterday, and today they are all gone down my tummy and expanding wasitline. All 500 calories! So what if it is only 100 calorie per pack?? It must be the chocolate - or that I need more sugar now that I am studying. Weeee... I'm high on the sugar rush! So what snacks are you eating now?

What's next?

There doesn't seem to be much to write about lately. My life is a little boring now, classes, lab and home. But it is stable, which is the way I like. See I am indeed a boring person!

No more baking because I am still trying to lose nine crazy pounds I put on in Singapore, and the fact that the new gym will only begin at the end of the month is killing me. I am definitely looking forward to its launch as there are fantastic views of the city from the top floor.

No more photos because I only go to groceries shopping during the weekend, and at best to Target. Yes, am on a tighter budget since I am now a poor graduate student.

It is already August, and thanks Fishy for reminding me, somehow I had the impression that National Day was on Aug 8th. How patriotic of me! To celebrate, the Husby and I went to the one and only eatery around here that whips up dishes that taste like from home (at a price tag of course). After spending $70 on 7 dishes between the two of us, we literally had to roll ourselves out of there! I am still feeling the after effects, and am so sick of Asian food now...

August also reminds me that there are so many things I want to do this year, two of which most important ones are still in progress. It is killing me, I have so little patience. Don't you wish you can hit the fast forward button?

Maybe I will start a science blog. (See how random my thoughts are??) Hitting the books again is kinda fun, relearning so many of the things I once knew. This time however, I am learning to ask why. In the past, I have never questioned how is it possible to have DNA in the Z form, but surprise surprise, I now know the answer to that! :) I feel so proud in a geeky way!! :D
