Thundersnow

All that wet snow came really quickly upon the city
When the email came around to say that campus would close at 3.30pm, we didn't think much of it. 4-8 inches of snow, how bad can it get right? By the time I was done with my experiments, it was 7.30pm and the roads outside the lab were a big mess. I also noticed lightning. At 8 when the Husby came around, and I was shocked to see the amount of snow on Mean Green, all that snow that accumulated on that 15 min journey. That cannot be good. It proved to be an arduous journey back home. What normally took 20mins took us over a hour. The roads were awful and it was very difficult to control the steering. Even for the Husby it was a daunting task, what alone me! Our friend D had told us about the bad traffic on the highway, and so we took the local roads. When he meant bad traffic, it was really bad, he had left at 6pm and arrived home after 3AM! All that time for a journey that might take him less than an hour. Cars were being abandoned and I don't know where those people could walk to. After we rolled into our street, we had to get out and shovel for half hour before getting the car into the lot. By then we were pooped out. There are a few lessons to learn from this experience: do not underestimate driving in snow, always pump gas way before any storm, always have water/food/blanket/heatpack/shovel in the car (Thanks for the tip Dawn!), check the traffic status before leaving. No more thundersnow please!

More craft

I found this photo in my old camera, this frog was made last year of felt for MJ who used to work with frogs in her previous lab. The pattern is from some craft book which I am too lazy to dig out of my pile of craft.

Bunny take-2 for WJ, this was suppose to be her birthday present but I just could not do it right, until last week.

More than a month later

Marvel at my claws!
Check out how Mr Bungles sits, with all his legs and claws bundled together! More than a month later, he is still here. The sofa is the only spot he would come to cuddle with us, get some under chin scratches and sometimes stretching out on our laps. But not all is always so fun, we have been nipped by him before. We just have to learn when to stop and not get scratched or bitten. When we adopted him, they said his character was a Eeyore, he sat in our laps and started purring, so cute right! Now he is like a Tigger, bouncing around like a bunny and following us like a dog. Who would have known!

Time for a nap again...

Hunchback look

Mr Bungles can look real scary in the mornings

To a new era

chicken scratches inspired by you-know-who

The idea from this pouch came from Mr Silly-Bungles and watching this standing cat video, that cat is amazing! Then came the drawings, two of which looked like the three wisemen and so I changed it to a globe. That idea came from Doodle Stitching: the motif collection book from the Husby for Christmas. The bag pattern itself is from the same pattern I mentioned before, but now I recently came across a better one here. The hardest part was to sew the words. In the end felt was the easiest material since I waited until I was done with the pouch before sewing the words - bad move. It is so corny, but I cannot help it! :)

happy Birthday again your Queen Dawn! we await your orders! :)

Bunny with scarf

The tiny pouch

Poor bunny, her ears are sewn over due to miscalculations

The interior is one of my favorite fabric from Ikea
When I chanced upon this free magazine Gifted (you got to check it out, its pretty!), and came to Camilla Engman's free Christmas gift tags, I could not take my eyes off that rabbit. So I made it into a pouch for HF as she departed for home back in Nov. The bunny still memorizes me, and so here is another pouch I made yesterday using this design. Some things didn't turn out right. I missed a step and made a mistake at the folding part. Also miscalculated the space I need, so poor bunny has part of her ears clipped. And it turned out to be a very tiny pouch, with too thick material and space for only the mobile charger. Oh well, now I know what to avoid! More in the works so stay tuned!

The perfect header

Your Royal Cat-ness deep in thought and plot
If Mr Bungles had a blog, this would be the perfect header. Him and his ploy of world domination.

If we are keeping him for good, he would most definitely have his own blog and kingdom to rule over. Unfortunately at this point in time we are considering rehoming him due to my allergies. Maybe it might go away in the next week or two, so we will wait and see again. There are some random names that we have come up for him, but somehow I am holding back on changing his name. Every day he is here with us makes me not want to rehome him. Meanwhile, Mr Bungles will be featured here with his silly antics serious business of ruling us all.
