TV shows

In the past few months, I have watched quite a fair bit of television since I have been bumming for a while.

For a while I was watching reruns of Judging Amy at noon, followed by Law and Order. The latter reminds me of NYPD Blue which I used to watch. The day would usually include an episode of more from the CSI series. I still prefer the original series with Grissom and team, rather than the New York or Miami ones. However, each time when the scene cuts to the investigators working the CSI lab, I will cringe upon seeing how they handle their work. How can they hold the tube like this? That is not sterile! I just cannot help it. They make the job look easy, but I would think the work is really much tougher than what is portrayed.

Lately I have been following Crossing Jordan as well, which similar to CSI. I think the lead actress Jill Hennessy is very pretty! ! I also like to watch House, with Dr. House with his really bad bedside manners leading his team to diagnose and save the poorthing patients in their care. I am eagerly awaiting the fourth season to be released later this year.

Quite often during commercials I will be flipping to MTV to watch some of the shows they produced. One of them is "My super sweet 16", where I get to watch the spoilt and super rich kids divas splurge their parents' money on a 16th birthday celebration. They would have pop and rock stars to be flown in for a performance during the celebrations, and devise different ways of creating a dramatic entrance to the party, from helicopters to magic shows. Needless to say, it is usually drama and tantrums galore. It also goes to show that with money, nothing is impossible. Usually the show ends with them getting some luxury car from their parents (though one girl received a horse as she wanted!). Coming up soon would certainly be "My sweet 21". There is also the other series "Engaged and Underaged" where they film young couples who tie the knot before they are 22.

I still end up watching MTV as it is something I have grown up with, music videos and all. These days MTV is no longer as popular as before. There are other channels like VH1, and many music videos are now available on YouTube.

The Discovery Channel production "Man vs. Wild" is pretty fascinating too. It follows the host Bear Grylls as he strands himself in very inhospitable places like the Everglades or harsh Artic conditions. I enjoyed the show with tips on surviving in those places which I would never want to find myself in, till the day he placed a terrapin to roast over a fire. I just could not bear to watch that. Now I hardly watch the show, for I really do not wish to see what is left of the terrapin. It reminded me of how there was this documentary of what happened when a shark and a sea turtle crossed path. The turtle lost his head, and the image has been imprinted onto my brain. Help me erasure it please!

Then there are all the usual reality shows, from America's Next Top Model (now in it's 7th cycle), The Biggest Loser to one for hair dressers - Split Ends. In particular I enjoy watching "Whose wedding is it anyway?", a show that reveals what the wedding planners are hired to do. It makes me wish I have a wedding planner too!

After watching Miami Ink, I was inspired to get a tattoo! I kept thinking of what image I would get should I really decide to get myself permanently inked. In the end I realised the answer was obvious, it would be a symbol of the sun! Or maybe I would write Suntaneye like in the photo above (PS. That is not me!). However, after reading up a little on tattoos, I get frightened by the possibilities of allergy problems and interference with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures. Maybe some day when I am up to it, I may just do a small tattoo on my back!

Sometimes while channel surfing, I would come across reruns of The Simpsons, as well as Futurama and Family Guy. These 30 minute animated television series still rock my world.

Late into the night, there would usually be Adult Swim, with their wacky takes on everything from Star Wars to politics. Check out Robot Chicken, I like the parodies of lots of pop culture. The website is great too to catch clips of Japanese anime, as well as their games like this "5 min to kill (yourself)", perfect when your job is killing you.

All these shows, at a flick of the button, leaves me glued to the goggle box!
