Every morning, I take the free shuttle to work. It has always been on time and very reliable.
All that changed the last two days.
Yesterday, the shuttle arrived and a bunch of about twenty people were waiting to board the bus. It was a joy to see that there were seats available, probably no one was on the bus. The only problem was, the door refused to open. It did not bulged, even when the driver tried to manually do it. Even though he managed to pry it open, as soon as he released it, the door would shut tight. As such, no one could get on the bus, and the driver could not get out either! Within minutes another shuttle came along, and we hopped on it. Sadly it was packed and we had to stand. At least I got to work on time.
This morning, the shuttle arrived, yippee, the door opened like usual and the Husby and I even managed to grab a seat for the 20-minute ride! Unfortunately our joy was short-lived. The bus, packed to the brim and barely 5-minutes away from campus, broke down and pulled to the side of the road! What luck! I overheard the driver saying something about brake failure when he called for backup. We contemplated walking to campus as we got off the bus, but decided against it. Although it takes only 5-minutes by bus, walking would take much longer. And the truth be told, I did not want to get to work all warm and sweaty. Soon after another bus came along and took us straight to campus; what a morning.
It makes me wonder what will happen tomorrow morning. What else can happen right?
