We did not make this into a big celebration, as we felt every day can be one, why restrict to just one day? Hmm... It sounds lame! The truth laid somewhere in between that that the Husby is busy with work, and we did not wish to spend too much money.
We did decide however, to try to follow the wedding anniversary traditions gifts, as inspired by Stevun (Thanks Stevun for the idea!). For the first year, the traditional gift was cotton in Britain and paper in America. Being in US now, I thought we should stick to paper, and so I wanted to get him japanese manga which he loves. Unfortunately, there were none on Amazon that were what he may have wanted. The closest it came was this only one vendor on eBay that had the right comic, but not the latest volume published. I made a blunder by emailing the vendor to ask about it without realising that the eBay account was directed to the Husby email address. And so the cat was out of the bag... D'OH! (In true Homer Simpson style)
So I made a card instead...
TA-DA! Being still a typical kiasu Singaporean at heart, I combined both cotton and paper using the cotton wool to create the clouds on the card. I love the sun which was made of small golden hearts! In return, I received a cute card too. Now I am not so certain if I really wish to follow the wedding anniversary traditional gifts to a T, for that would mean that I will have to wait another 24 years to get silver, 44 years to sapphire, and a whopping 69 years to get diamonds! Not to mention there will be strange gifts of wood, sugar, bronze and what-nots in between. I'll start my own "list" that only requires one line: ask me what I want! *Hahaha*
