Chicken the frog is admiring my latest creation - the Short, Dark and Ugly Cake!
Made from scratch, this flourless chocolate cake was suppose to taste like my favourite Lana chocolate cake. However, as you can see from the photo, it was a failure in terms of taste and looks. :( Still not all is lost. The cake has an interesting texture, a little mousse-like, and the chocolate was heavenly! Definitely quenched the chocolate-lust in me!
It is named the Short, Dark and Ugly Cake (as opposed to tall, dark and handsome) for the following reasons: short because it failed to rise, dark as it contains lots of dark chocolate, and ugly because it has one flaky crust on top of the cake.
Even with the hand held mixer, I had problems making the egg yolk double in volume. In the process, I earned myself a black face from my housemate as the mixing was noisy. Anyway, I still hope to try this again someday and this time I hope I can name the cake Tall Dark and Handsome!
