Baltimore Inner Harbor

These photos taken on Saturday when the Husby and I went down to Inner Harbor last Saturday. It was a pity that the weather was not perfect (sunny and cheery), instead the photos look depressing and gloomy.

The Baltimore Inner Harbor was once a major seaport since the 1700s, but has lost it competitive edge. Today it serves as a tourist attraction and a place for seafood (especially crabs and crab cakes) by the bay.

The tall building on the left is the World Trade Center which overlooks the harbor. It is the world's tallest even-sided pentagon shaped building. You didn't think I would say world's tallest building there right? ;) There is an observation deck on the 72th storey... Eh, I meant the 27th storey (so low ah?).

Reflections of the National Aquarium in Baltimore and its surroundings. I hear that the aquarium is good, but I shall wait for Friday evenings when the admissions are a steal at half the original price.

Notice anything strange about this photo? Nope I did not forget to rotate the photos - it is the reflection in the water! This building is the Power Plant, a block away from the Inner Harbor and it was a real power plant in the past.

Here is the Power Plant again, right-side up. Barnes & Noble is a book store, and it is flanked by ESPNZone (sports stuff) and Hard Rock cafe. Check out the giant guitar on the top that screams Hard Rock cafe!

We had intended to have some wonderful seafood dinner, but boy was it crowded in the restaurants! In the end we decided we might as well go back to this Thai place we have eaten at before, and so it was bye-bye Inner Harbor. Before we left, I just had to pop into The Cheesecake Factory to ogle at the cakes, and ended up buying two slices! One was the keylime cheesecake (too saccharine-sweet!), and the other was the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake (with hint of dark chocolate... *drool*)!!

Now meet the Tall Dark and Handsome cake! (Why can't my cake be like this?)

It came with a piece of Godiva chocolate too! Heavenly!
