Seventh Day of Chinese New Year

Its the seventh day of Chinese New Year, and it is traditionally celebrated as "a birthday for everyone".

It is believed to be a prosperous day where families get-together to "loy-hey" (Or is it loh-hai, ahh never mind, there are so many versions of it I am confused!). The highter the yu-sheng/yee sang (Mandarin vs Cantonese) is tossed, the more prosperity your family will enjoy!(Source: the Spring Toss box)

Here is what the Husby and I had tonight; I forgot to shred the carrots (so we decided to toss that out of the dish), and the salmon was not added to it yet. And oops, that should have been a pair of chop-sticks instead of spoon.

Now I am waiting for all that prosperity to come, not just to the tummy! =P

Did you know this dish was made popular in Singapore in the 1960s? You can read it on Wikipedia by clicking here.

**Post note: As I was throwing the box away, I realised that this yu sheng thingy was made in Kedah my hometown! What a strange world, it was made in Kedah, I bought in Singapore, and now its in USA with me! Hahaha...
