On Saturday, the Husby and I woke up bright and early to go shopping! (Note the glee in the last word!)
I brought along my camera with the intentions of taking photos of MD so I could post here. Unfortunately, the memory card was left at the apartment, so I promise more photos another time!
The buses here arrived on a fixed schedule, and so you can plan your time accordingly. This was definitely helpful in winter where you would not want to be standing at the bus stop for the next hour in the wind. It was nice too that the lady driver waved off the fare when we enquired about it. Surprisingly, the buses have some GPS tracking system of sorts that would annouce the location of each bus stop. This would certainly benefit the visually impaired. Interestingly, when you press the bell, it would say "Stop requested" rather than the beep sound.
When we arrived at the Towson Shopping Center, we had to stand outside to wait for it to open, and it was fun to be the first few walking to a department store that still had the lights dimmed at some spots. There are so many new brands here that it was very interesting to explore just what each store sold. The experience can be describled like where have I been?? There is a whole new world of shopping here!
The only thing I dislike about shopping here is that for some places the price shown on the tag is without taxes, so when you take it to the cashier, you may be shocked that you have to pay more. If I am not wrong, there is a 5% tax in MD, and this may differs from state to state.
In the evening, with the kind help of a friend who drove us around, we also went to Ikea to get furniture for me, so I would no longer have to live out of my suitcases.
Next came dinner at a resturant called Bertha's Mussels, which as its name implied mussels was their speciality. I could not resist trying the must-eat in Baltimore: crab cakes! The name of this dish was Jumbo lump of crab cake, ain't it cute? (Apologies for the poor lighting which did not do the crab cake any justice, even Photoshop could not save it.)
