Can you spot Mean Green?

Yes to raspberries and blue berries, no to beets :)
And this year's special was PLUMS! First a confession, I don't love plums, not even really like it at all. I just want to pick some for the fun of it, especially the yellow one. Did you know plums do not ripen off the tree?

While everyone was hard at work, I was admiring my new camera. More yellow plums here, to me they look like apricots, but apricots are way way more yummy.

Of course we had to stop to pick apricots! Here the Husby was hard at work, while I was starting to get tired of the sweltering heat (it was at 100F = 38C). Taking photos is hard work you know! :P
By the end of apricot picking, we had spent close to two hours at the farm and were calling it quits. Then we spotted this elderly lady paying for her overflowing bucket of blackberries - they were the most humongous ones I have even seen. Needless to say, we stormed into the field, determined to pick some more berries. It is easy to tell which are the ripe ones just by the color, but there are a ton of bees and so it is not too fun.
Husby, me and WJ on that HOT crazy morning

A sample of the pickings of the day. I think this was WJ's stash, what a lot of fruits!
In 2007, we picked apples with D (yes I only picked one perfect apple, and then was contented to only admire them). 2008 it was peaches with Aki-chan! Last year it was also at this farm that we picked the berries and some sour cherries with WJ and L. Next year, I hope we make it for the sweet cherries!

Back to my long story, after grabbing a quick lunch at Hunan Taste, we headed home and the Husby then proceeded to bake me my birthday cake. This year I wanted a tall cake, with 30 candles on it. If I was going to celebrate at all, might as well make it a big cake with tons of candles right? At 5-ish, WJ and I went shopping at the Towson Town Mall. At close to 8, the Husby came by the pick us up and I had the biggest shock upon reaching home.

You know those scenes on TV/ in movies of surprise parties? I literally opened the front door, noticed a strange pair of shoes and then suddenly there were all these people shouting "SURPRISE!" What were my friends doing in the house! It was very sneaky of the Husby, but so very sweet of him to plan all these without me finding out. I have this penchant for sniffing out surprises and spoiling them, which is a really bad I know. He was the planner, the baker, and also the cook. It could not have been a better surprise and celebration with friends (wish you were here Dawn, sorry we missed you).

2-tier chocolate cake with tiramisu filling all over. The best tasting cake ever, but I might be bias you say.
