Here is my long-winded story of the day:
6pm - Hooray, get off work! I boarded the shuttle bus, looking for a good spot to read my book for the thirty-minute journey. As I became engrossed in the book, the bus quickly filled up with people eager to return home. It was not long before a middle-aged man sat down in the seat next to me.
Soon after the bus moved off from the terminal stop, I began my countdown to getting home, with anticipations of rummaging the fridge for some dinner (pie!) and watching TV for the evening. Interrupting my thoughts, however, was the man beside me. He was searching for something in his bag pack, pulling out new papers and other knick-knacks. I was starting to get a little annoyed, for I could see him from the corner of my eye while I continue reading my book. My mind drifted off and I began to ponder what exactly he was looking for. His reading glasses? His mobile phone perhaps? His wallet? Maybe his house keys?
Then it dawned on me. House keys. Do I have mine?
Right at that moment, my neighbour must have found whatever item he was searching for, because he settled into his seat and started reading his newspapers. It became a comical role reversal. I, who was reading a second ago, now peering into the front of my bag pack, only to discover to my dismay that the keys were not in their usual spot. More frantic searching continued on my part. Wallet, check; mobile phone, check; keys - where are you hiding?! In that instant, all my dreams of dinner in front of the TV were dashed, and I had a bigger issue on hand to settle - how to get into the house!
That was the result of having the Husby locking or opening the doors, and alas, today had to be the day he would work late. The only solution was get off the shuttle, wait the return shuttle and head off to find the Husby.
Isn't life funny, when it sees you getting too comfortable, it always has something else in stored for you?
Totally unrelated: Looks like this bacteria has caught the kiasu bug of Singaporeans, carrying some tens of thousands of copies of it's own genome. A case of the more the merrier?
