The almost-there-kueh lapis

Ta-da! Ever seen a green Kueh Lapis? I so miss the ones I could get in Sungai Petani, Kedah at those night markets my mama used to bring me. In the end I gave in to my cravings and came up with this.

It would definitely be better if I had some red coloring, but I was too stingy to buy some just for this. Hence it has earned the "almost-there" status - tasted quite like it, but does not look too much like one. I think there are suppose to be many more layers too, but I became too impatient. After all, it all tastes alike in the end right? =)

In case you are interested, I found the recipe online here. May I also add that the main ingredient happens to be coconut milk, so beware of how easily the calories can build up. As such, I vouch never to do this kueh again... Or at least for a long time to come!
