Cherry blossoms

Last Saturday the Husby and I woke up bright and early at 5.30am to make it to view the cherry blossoms in DC. We had this crazy plan leave the car at Silver Springs, take the Metro down and run to the Tidal Basin before the area turned into a sea of bodies with cameras clicking away and gawking at every tree (Well that would include yours truly). I must say the flowers were really pretty and I am pleased with the photos I managed to get. I only wished I had an SLR camera that I see hanging around every other person neck!

8am was really a good time to be there. The same cannot be said for an hour later, the narrow walkway was swamped by people from everywhere, people cycling, jogging, with prams, wheelchairs... You get the picture. It did not help that there was a parade starting at ten. After fighting the crowds we then headed back to eat dim sum - a wonderful way to start the day I must say! :)

Was it worth the trek? :)
